Executive Staff

Impact Sales has retained a strong management team to ensure our vision is executed, to properly represent our clients’ interests and to enable ISI to successfully compete in a global marketplace — both today and in the distant future. Below are brief bios of key personnel in the Impact hierarchy:

Carl Pennington, Jr.

Chief Executive Officer

Carl has extensive experience in the consumer packaged goods industry. He began his career marketing for Nestle in Northern California. Through his dealings at Nestle, Carl ultimately met the owner and operator of Carey, Ahrens & Raynsford, which was Northern California’s largest food brokerage operation. Carl was recruited by the firm as a Senior Vice President, and assumed responsibility for the company’s grocery operation, the largest operating unit of the business. In 1995, Carl sold his ownership and left Carey, Ahrens & Raynsford to join Impact Sales as an owner in the business. Carl currently serves as ISI’s CEO.

Phil Maresca

President

Following two years of pre-dental education, Phil entered the Food Industry with a Northern California food brokerage firm. Over the next several years, Phil held several management positions, both in sales and marketing, succeeding to the position of Group Vice President. Phil then moved on to a new brokerage firm as partner and general manager and after four years returned to his original firm as partner. Following the eventual acquisition of his company, Phil held the position of Vice President for a national brokerage firm, based in Northern California. Phil joined Impact Sales in 2004, and currently holds the position of Region President of the Southwest Region, and President of Business Development, working out of our Northern California office.

Todd Weible

Chief Information Officer

After exercising his formal training in computer science as an R&D Engineer at Hewlett-Packard, Todd Joined the CPG industry as a Director of IT for Impact Sales in the year 2000. Todd joined PinnPointe in 2001 and has since led the technology teams, analyst teams and PinnSights teams. As CIO at PinnPointe, Todd is responsible for delivering solutions that are effective and easy-to-use in solving complicated analytical problems within the industry.

Jeff Russell

President, GMHBC

Jeff has developed an extremely focused background within the food industry. After graduating from Boise State University, Jeff joined the Colgate Palmolive Company, working in sales. He worked for Colgate in both Idaho and Southern California, ultimately accepting responsibility for managing the Albertson’s Team. As Team Leader, Jeff was responsible for development of the promotional and marketing plans, as well as sales execution, for the nation’s second-largest grocery retailer. In 1996, Jeff left Colgate to join Impact Sales as Corporate Team Leader, and became an owner in 1999. From his Boise office, Jeff serves as President of GMHBC.

Tim Clare

Director, National Accounts

Prior to joining Impact Sales, Tim owned and operated a snack food distributorship in the Northwest for six years. After selling the distributorship, he was employed by Gourmet Awards/Tree of Life and remained there until joining Impact Sales in 1999, based out of the Seattle, Washington office. Tim was transferred to the Impact Sales office in Boise, Idaho one year later and managed our DSD business as Category Director of Specialty & Natural Foods. In 2002, he joined our sister company, PinnPointe Consulting Group, as Director of Project Development and remained with them through 2005. Tim currently serves as Director of National Accounts.

Paul Pennington

Board Member

Paul enjoys a diverse background in the food industry. He began his career with Kraft General Foods, moving on in order to attain a law degree from Gonzaga University. Paul then served as a Staff Attorney for the Honorable Jack D. Shanstrom, Chief Judge for the United States District Court in the District of Montana. Following this tenure, Paul joined Albertson’s Inc. as a Corporate Attorney. His various responsibilities with Albertsons included drafting and negotiation of Corporate Volume-based contracts with various manufacturers of food products. In 1996, Paul left Albertsons to join Impact Sales as an owner in the business. In 2005, Paul left ISI to become the CEO of VIQ Development and Pinnacle Coffee. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors for Impact Sales.

Carl Pennington, Sr.

Board Member

Carl enjoyed a successful 38-year career with Albertsons, Inc. At the time of his retirement from Albertsons, Carl ran the operations, marketing and merchandising for the nation’s second largest food and drug retail chain. Carl was also a member of the Office of the Chairman. In 2001, Carl established PinnPointe Consulting Group in Boise, Idaho and currently serves as CEO of PinnPointe. Carl also serves on the Board of Directors for Impact Sales.
